23.96 Lakh Households Get Rooftop Solar Under PM Surya Ghar

  • Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, 23.96 lakh households have installed rooftop solar systems, reaching 23.96% of the 1 crore household target by FY2026-27.
  • The demand-driven scheme has an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore, with 53.54 lakh applications received and 7075.78 MW capacity installed in the residential sector.
  • The Ministry ensures quality through minimum technical specifications, DISCOM inspections, mandatory 5-year vendor maintenance, and a 1% third-party assessment of installations.
  • Individual households receive CFA of Rs 30,000/kWp for the first 2 kWp and Rs 18,000/kWp for the additional 1 kWp, capped at 3 kWp. GHS/RWA get Rs 18,000/kWp up to 500 kWp, with 10% higher CFA for special category states.

Why It Matters: Households can save on electricity bills through government solar subsidies.
