Madan Mohan Malaviya: A Nationalist, Educationist, and BHU Founder
- •Born December 25, 1861, in Allahabad, Malaviya was a Sanskrit scholar from age five, graduating from Calcutta University in 1884.
- •He founded Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 1916, giving up his legal practice and raising 50% of the 1 crore target.
- •Malaviya popularized 'Satyamev Jayate', India's national motto, and was called "Mahamana" by Tagore and "Devata Purush" by Gandhi.
- •He served as editor for 'Hindosthan', founded 'Abhyudaya', 'The Leader', and 'Maryada', and was Congress President four times.
- •Conferred Bharat Ratna posthumously in 2014, he also founded the Hindu Mahasabha in 1906 and chaired Hindustan Times.
