Excessive water intake can disrupt electrolyte balance, leading to hyponatremia where blood sodium levels become diluted.
•
This imbalance causes cells to swell; severe cases can lead to brain cell swelling, causing headaches, confusion, and life-threatening complications.
•
Experts emphasize balance, recommending drinking when thirsty and monitoring urine color (pale yellow is ideal).
•
For most adults, 2-3 liters daily is sufficient; during intense activity, complement water with electrolytes like buttermilk or coconut water.
