AR Rahman Agrees to Acknowledge Dagar Tradition in 'Veera Raja Veera' Credits
•AR Rahman has informed the Supreme Court of his willingness to include an acknowledgment of the Dagar lineage in the song’s credits as an interim measure.
•The Supreme Court recorded Rahman's submission on February 20, directing the revised credit line to be displayed across OTT and online platforms.
•The new credit line will state: “Composition inspired from Dagarwani tradition Dhrupad, first recorded by Late Ustad M Faiyazuddin Dagar and his nephew Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar”.
•The dispute stems from a petition by Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar, alleging 'Veera Raja Veera' is substantially similar to 'Shiva Stuti', a composition by his father and uncle.
•The Rs 2 crore deposit by Rahman will remain with the Registrar General of the High Court, pending the final decision in the copyright infringement suit.
