• Shankar Maharaj started making Paitas in 1987, initially mortgaging land, and later expanded the business.
• The initiative empowers approximately 30 local housewives, who earn 150-300 rupees daily, contributing significantly to their household incomes.
• Paitas are made from threads sourced from Kolkata, processed with sago and arrowroot flour, and distributed across various parts of West Bengal.
