Core Sector Growth Hits 3-Month Low of 2.3% in February

India's core sector growth slowed to 2.3% in February, a three-month low, down from 4.7% in January.
•
Weak electricity generation and continued contraction in oil and gas output dragged down the growth.
•
Electricity output growth decelerated sharply to 0.5% in February from 5.2% in January, significantly impacting the overall number.
•
Crude oil production contracted 5.2%, natural gas output fell 5%, and refinery products slipped 1%.
•
Steel and cement remained bright spots but also lost momentum, growing 7.2% and 9.3% respectively.
