India-UK Trade Deal Set for April Implementation: Whisky, Auto Tariffs to Fall
- •India-UK free trade agreement (CETA) expected to be implemented from April, boosting bilateral trade.
- •99% of Indian exports to enter UK market at zero duty; India to reduce tariffs on British cars and Scotch whisky.
- •Tariffs on Scotch whisky to drop from 150% to 75% immediately, then to 40% by 2035.
- •India to gradually cut auto import duties from up to 110% to 10% over five years under a quota system.
- •Agreement aims to double current $56 billion trade between India and UK by 2030.
