Government Blocks 3.9 Million Mobile Connections, 2.8 Million WhatsApp Accounts to Combat Cyber Fraud

  • The government has deactivated 3.943 million mobile numbers and blacklisted 227,000 mobile phones nationwide to curb cyber fraud.
  • Additionally, 131,000 fraudulent SMS templates and 2.8 million WhatsApp accounts linked to suspicious activities have been blocked.

  • These actions, based on 770,000 citizen inputs and Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) alerts, have prevented over 1,000 crore rupees in potential fraud.
