Next Household Consumption Survey Expected in 2027-28: MoSPI Secretary

•MoSPI Secretary Saurabh Garg announced the next Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES) is planned for 2027-28.
•The Ministry aims to revise macro-economic base years every five years, aligning with international norms.
•MoSPI recently launched a new Consumer Price Index (CPI) series with base year 2024, after an 11-year gap.
•The new CPI series reflects current household consumption patterns, price structures, and India's evolving economy.
•It includes more items (358 from 299), rural house rent, and modern consumption items like online media services.
