India Approves 5 Lakh Tonnes Wheat Product Exports After 3-Year Ban
- •The Centre has approved the export of 5 lakh tonnes of wheat products (flour, maida, semolina), partially relaxing a ban imposed in 2022.
- •This approval comes after more than three years, with the industry having requested 10 lakh tonnes.
- •The application process for exporters will be through the DGFT website, with the first phase from January 21-31, 2026.
- •Export permits will be valid for six months, and exporters must submit a 'landing certificate' within 30 days of shipping.
- •The decision was made due to sufficient domestic wheat stock, good mandi arrivals, and stable market prices.
Why It Matters: India partially lifts its 2022 wheat export ban, allowing 5 lakh tonnes of wheat product exports.
