Indian Students in US Decline by 6.9% Amid Stricter Visa Rules
•
The number of Indian students in the US decreased by 6.9% in one year, from 378,787 in Feb 2025 to 352,644 in Feb 2026.
•
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh informed Rajya Sabha about the decline, citing data from SEVIS.
•
The decrease spans all education sectors, from primary to higher education, including schools, colleges, and research.
•

•
A significant 69% drop in F-1 visas issued to Indian students was observed in June-July 2025 compared to 2024.
