DK Shivakumar to Address Centre's Concerns on Bengaluru Double-Decker Flyovers

• The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) raised reservations, fearing such designs could dilute mass transit purpose by encouraging parallel road infrastructure.
• The Hebbal-Sarjapur Metro corridor approval is delayed due to these concerns, as highlighted by Moneycontrol and MP PC Mohan.
• MoHUA cautioned that full-length road and Metro stretches could weaken mass transit gains and urged BMRCL to revisit the design.
• Shivakumar stated the state bears 50% of the cost, citing difficulty in road widening, and will discuss technical objections with the Union Minister.
