DA Case Verdict Thursday: Supreme Court to Rule on Government Employee Allowances

• The Supreme Court will announce its verdict on the long-pending Dearness Allowance (DA) case on Thursday at 10:30 AM in Courtroom No. 11.
• The case, concerning outstanding DA for state government employees, has been heard 26 times since November 28, 2022, with the hearing concluding on September 8, 2025.
• Previously, on May 16, the court directed the state government to pay 25% of the outstanding DA within four weeks, an order that was not complied with.
• The state government had challenged a Calcutta High Court verdict from September 22, 2022, which directed the state to pay the outstanding DA, by filing a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court.
• A bench of Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice P.K. Mishra will deliver the crucial verdict, which has seen many twists and turns.
