Northeast Frontier Railway Boosts Train Safety with Advanced Tech: Hot Box Detectors & ATES
- •Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has installed 30 Hot Box Detectors (HBD) across its network to monitor axle box bearing temperatures on moving trains, preventing potential derailments.
- •An additional 43 HBDs are in procurement to further enhance NFR's safety monitoring infrastructure.
- •Three Automatic Train Examination Systems (ATES) have been installed at New Jalpaiguri to automatically detect wheel defects, axle box defects, and other abnormalities in freight trains.
- •ATES helps maintenance personnel plan timely repairs, reducing inspection time and ensuring reliable freight operations.
- •A test rake with five wagons has been introduced in Rangiya Division for testing and calibrating 15 in-motion weighbridges, ensuring accuracy of weight measurements.
