Bhopal Metro Faces New Controversy: MLA Protests Route Through Royal Cemetery

Congress MLA Atif Arif Akeel protests Orange Line Phase-2 route through Shahi Qabristan (Royal Cemetery) near Bhopal Talkies.

MLA Akeel states, "Our elders are buried here. Under no circumstances will the metro be allowed to pass through the cemetery."

Shahi Waqf Board filed a court case and obtained a stay order against the metro route through the cemetery.

Bhopal Metro's Orange Line Phase-2, from Subhash Nagar to Karond, is 16.74 km long, with elevated and underground sections.

Bhopal Metro is already struggling with low ridership, with daily passengers dropping from 7,000 to 300-350 on the existing 7 km route.
