Indore-Khandwa Broad Gauge Project Approved, Malwa-Nimar Gets Rail Boost

Ministry of Environment and Forests grants preliminary approval for the Indore-Khandwa broad gauge rail project.

Project vital for economic development, connectivity, trade, and tourism in Malwa and Nimar regions.

In-principle approval granted for using 454 hectares of forest land; construction between Mhow and Mukhtiyar Balwada.
•
Plan includes 16 tunnels, viaducts, and environmental measures like afforestation and Green Railway Corridor Management.
•
Railway deposited ₹150 crore with Forest Department for compensation and planting 1000 hectares of new trees.
