INS Taragiri: India's Stealth Powerhouse Joins Navy, BrahMos Armed, Radar's Foe

INS Taragiri, the fourth Nilgiri-class stealth frigate under Project-17A, will be inducted into the Indian Navy in April 2026 in Visakhapatnam.
•
Weighing 6,700 tons, it features 75% indigenous content, advanced stealth technology, and 'Integrated Modular Construction' for faster build.
•
Equipped with BrahMos supersonic missiles, Barak-8 air defense system, 76mm naval gun, torpedoes, and anti-submarine warfare systems.
•
Features 'HUMSA-NG' sonar and 'Ajanta', 'Shakti' electronic warfare systems for enhanced underwater detection and signal disruption.
•
Strengthens the Eastern Naval Fleet and India's strategic presence in the Indian Ocean Region, marking a step towards a blue-water navy.
