Warangal's Mamunooru Airport Project Gains Pace: Telangana to Get Second Airport by 2027

•Telangana is set to get its second airport at Mamunooru, Warangal, with central and state governments accelerating development efforts.
•The historically significant airport, built around the 1930s by Mir Osman Ali Khan, was also used during WWII and by PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
•State government acquired 280 acres for Rs. 205 crores in 2024, and a 'No Objection Certificate' was received from GMR.
•Central government approved the development in February 2025; total land acquisition of approximately 950 acres is complete.
•Union Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu announced a 2500-meter runway, Rs. 850 crore estimated cost, and services by end of 2027.
