Warangal's Mamunooru Airport Project Gains Pace: Telangana to Get Second Airport by 2027
•
Telangana is set to get its second airport at Mamunooru, Warangal, with central and state governments accelerating development efforts.
•
The historically significant airport, built around the 1930s by Mir Osman Ali Khan, was also used during WWII and by PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
•
State government acquired 280 acres for Rs. 205 crores in 2024, and a 'No Objection Certificate' was received from GMR.
•
Central government approved the development in February 2025; total land acquisition of approximately 950 acres is complete.
•
Union Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu announced a 2500-meter runway, Rs. 850 crore estimated cost, and services by end of 2027.
