Currently, the college has 39 departments, 18,000 students, and strong faculty, with sufficient land and infrastructure.

Demand for Central University status is growing, as there is no Central University between Delhi and Lucknow.

Local MLA Sanjeev Agarwal has raised the issue in the Assembly, hoping to benefit thousands of students in the Bareilly division.
