UGC Declares 4 UP Universities Fake: Degrees Worthless, Students Warned

• UGC identifies 4 universities in Uttar Pradesh as fake, rendering their degrees invalid for jobs or further studies.
• The number of fake universities nationwide has increased from 20 to 32 in two years, with Delhi having the most (12) and UP second.
• Students and parents are advised to verify institution recognition on ugc.gov.in before admission to avoid fraud.
• The fake universities in UP include Gandhi Hindi Vidyapeeth Prayagraj, Mahamaya Technical University Noida, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Open University Aligarh, and Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad Bharat Bhawan Lucknow.
• Separately, UGC extended Ewing Christian College's (ECC) autonomy until the 2028-2029 academic session.
