Decomposed Elephant Calf Found in Purulia Forest, Forest Department Investigates

A decomposed body of an elephant calf was discovered in the Ayodhya Hills forests of Purulia.
•
Local residents found the body while collecting wood, alerting the forest department.

The body was recovered from Gondia forest, approximately 500 feet high, and sent for post-mortem.

DFO Anjan Guha suggests the calf might have died from slipping down the hill, awaiting post-mortem results.
