A herd of 10 elephants crossed the Dwarkeswar River at night, entering agricultural fields in Bishnupur's Hingjuri area.

Extensive damage to potato, cabbage, tomato, onion, and lentil crops across fifty bighas of land.
•
Local farmers attempted to chase away the elephants, which then retreated back across the river towards Joypur forest.
•
Farmers, dependent on agriculture and loans, face severe financial hardship due to crop destruction.
•
Forest Department assures appropriate compensation will be provided after assessing the damage.
