Katwa Hospital Boosts HDU Beds to 18, Ends Patient Referrals for Critical Care

• Katwa Sub-divisional Hospital increased its High Dependency Unit (HDU) bed capacity from 6 to 18, inaugurated by SDO Arnaban Bose and Chairman Kamalakanta Chakraborty.
• The expansion aims to provide advanced medical services locally, reducing the need to refer critically ill patients to other hospitals.
• HDU offers 24-hour doctor services, central oxygen, and ventilation facilities for close observation of critical patients.
• Hospital Superintendent Biplab Mondal highlighted the high patient load from Purba Bardhaman, Nadia, Birbhum, and Murshidabad districts.
• Additionally, 10 new residential doctors joined, and OPD services for Gynecology and Medicine are extended until 6 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
