West Bengal Interim Budget 2026: Para Teachers, ASHA Workers Get Major Honorarium Hike

• West Bengal's final interim budget before assembly elections announced significant sops, including a 1,000 rupee honorarium increase for Para Teachers and other education staff.
• The honorarium hike for Para Teachers, Shikshabandhu, Sahayak/Sahayika, Samprasarok, Special Educators, and Management Staff will be effective from April 2026.
• Families of these education-related staff will receive a one-time financial assistance of 5 lakh rupees in case of death during service.
• ASHA workers will also see a 1,000 rupee increase in their monthly honorarium from April 2026, along with 180 days of maternity leave and 5 lakh rupees death compensation.
• The budget also introduced the 'Yuva Sathi' scheme, providing 1,500 rupees monthly to unemployed youths aged 21-40 who have passed Madhyamik, starting August 15.
