24.6 Lakh ITRs Pending Over 90 Days: Govt Flags Massive Backlog

•Over 24.6 lakh income tax returns (ITRs) for Assessment Year 2025-26 remain unprocessed for more than 90 days.
•This backlog is out of nearly 8.80 crore ITRs filed by February 4, 2026.
•The NUDGE campaign led to 1.11 crore updated/revised ITRs and generated ₹6,976.50 crore in additional taxes.
•Total revenue impact of the NUDGE campaign reached ₹8,810.59 crore.
•The NUDGE campaign targets taxpayers with incorrect or non-reported income/assets, or excess claims.
