NRIs: Claim Foreign Tax Credit by March 31! Here's How to File Form 67
•Non-resident Indians (NRIs) can claim Foreign Tax Credit (FTC) by submitting Form 67 to the Income Tax Department.
•The last date to claim FTC is March 31, allowing NRIs to offset taxes paid abroad against their Indian tax liability.
•Form 67 must be filed before submitting your Income Tax Return (ITR) for the year, as per Rule 128.
•FTC helps avoid double taxation on income earned abroad, especially with countries having Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements (DTAA) under Section 90.
•Even without a DTAA, Section 91 of the IT Act allows claiming credit for taxes paid abroad; FTC can be claimed on tax, surcharge, and cess, but not on interest, penalties, or fees.
