Farmers Alert! Major Changes to PM Kisan, Crop Insurance from Jan 1, 2026

• Significant changes for farmers in agriculture, banking, and government schemes will take effect from January 1, 2026.
• A Unique Farmer ID is being rapidly implemented and will be mandatory for availing benefits from schemes like PM Kisan and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
• Without the Unique Farmer ID, direct deposit of scheme funds into bank accounts may not be possible.
• Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana will now cover crop damage caused by animals, in addition to natural calamities, starting 2026.
• Farmers must file an official report within 72 hours of animal-induced crop damage to claim insurance under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
