Kalyani Expressway Opens: Kolkata to Kalyani in 40 Mins, Mamata Inaugurates Rs 3500 Cr Project
•Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the 45-kilometer Kalyani Expressway, connecting Kolkata and Kalyani, reducing travel time to 40 minutes.
•The Rs 3500 crore super highway project aims to ease traffic congestion, previously taking two hours for the same distance.
•A 1.5 km, 3-lane flyover connecting Belghoria Expressway to Kalyani Expressway in Nimta was also inaugurated.
•Future plans include connecting the Kalyani Expressway to the 6-lane Second Ishwar Gupta Bridge over the Ganges.
•The project, executed by West Bengal Highway Development Corporation Ltd, is expected to boost connectivity for North 24 Parganas, Nadia, and Hooghly districts, and improve access to Kalyani AIIMS.
