PM Modi Inaugurates Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu: 3000 Crore Bridge Boosts Assam Connectivity

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu over the Brahmaputra River, a major infrastructure project for Guwahati.
• The 1.24 km long, 6-lane extradosed PSC bridge is part of an 8.4 km corridor, built at a cost of approximately 3,030 crore rupees.
• Aimed at easing traffic congestion in Guwahati, it connects Guwahati and North Guwahati, improving travel and commercial activities.
• The bridge will significantly reduce travel time across the Brahmaputra, alleviating pressure on existing bridges like Saraighat Bridge.
• It is expected to boost trade, freight movement, and religious tourism to Kamakhya Devi Temple, promoting urban development in the region.
