Pune Retired Officer Loses 7 Crores in Drainage Repair Scam; Cybercriminals on the Loose

• A retired additional director from Serum Institute of India was defrauded of Rs 6.70 crore.
• The scam began under the pretext of a drainage line repair job at a rented house in Navi Peth.
• Accused Sandeep Chavan, posing as a municipal official, lured the officer with a separate drainage line offer.
• The fraudsters used fake identities of bank officials, police, and judges to extort money and instill fear.
• The victim continued transferring funds until June 2025, losing his life's savings; police are investigating.
