Jharkhand Weightlifter Babulal Hembrom Wins Silver, Trained with Bamboo Sticks

• Babulal Hembrom, from Keribanda village, Ramgarh District, Jharkhand, won a silver medal in the men’s 60kg category at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026.
• Initially, Babulal trained using bamboo sticks and iron rods at construction sites due to financial constraints.
• He later joined the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSPS) coaching centre, commuting 60 km daily to train under former Army coach Gurvinder Singh.
• Babulal has a strong track record, including Khelo India Youth Games gold in 2024 and medals at IWF World Youth and Asian Junior & Youth Weightlifting Championships.
• Now part of national camps in Patiala, Babulal aims to represent India in major international events like the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
