Akasa Air ordered to pay ₹1.08 crore for cancelled group booking to travel agent
•
A Delhi court directed Akasa Air to pay ₹1.08 crore to ABS Tours and Travels for cancelling a 640-seat group booking.
•
The booking was for Delhi–Goa and Goa–Delhi routes during the peak December–January 2023 festive season.
•
District Judge Commercial Lalit Kumar ruled Akasa Air's actions constituted a breach of contract under the Indian Contract Act of 1872.
•
The court noted the cancellation denied the travel agency a legitimate business opportunity during a high-demand holiday period.
•
Akasa Air acknowledged the order, stating they are reviewing it with legal counsel and may pursue appellate proceedings.
