• Currently working in retail sales in Oman, Shantanu bought the winning ticket with a friend and plans to share the prize money.
• The ticket cost 500 dirhams (approx. Rs 12,000), and Shantanu had been regularly buying lottery tickets.
• His family in Udupi is celebrating, especially as he became a father to a baby girl a month ago, whom they consider a good luck charm.
• Shantanu, who comes from humble agricultural beginnings, plans to return home in about a month, with his father urging wise use of the money.
