India to stop excess Ravi water flow to Pakistan as Shahpur Kandi dam nears completion

• India is set to complete the Shahpur Kandi dam on the Jammu and Kashmir–Punjab border by March 31, ending the routine flow of surplus Ravi water into Pakistan.
• The project, revived after decades of neglect, holds geopolitical significance following the Pahalgam terror attack, which India attributes to Pakistan-backed terrorism.
• Jammu and Kashmir water resources minister Javed Ahmed Rana confirmed that excess Ravi water to Pakistan will be stopped, emphasizing the project's importance for drought-hit Kathua and Samba districts.
