India's Trade Boost: FTAs with UK, Oman to be Operational by June 2026
•India aims to operationalize trade pacts with Oman and the UK before June 2026 to diversify trade and counter global uncertainties.
•The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Oman is targeted for May 2026, with current bilateral trade exceeding $10 billion.
•Oman offers zero-duty access on 98.08% of its tariff lines, covering 99.38% of India’s exports, benefiting sectors like Gems & Jewellery, Textiles, and Pharmaceuticals.
•India is offering tariff liberalization on 77.79% of its total tariff lines for Oman, while safeguarding sensitive products like dairy, gold, and tobacco.
•The India-UK FTA has passed both houses of the UK Parliament, with implementation expected in the next 30-45 days; bilateral trade reached $21.34 billion in FY 2023-24.
