377 Aircraft Found with Recurring Defects Since Jan 2023, Govt Informs Lok Sabha

  • A total of 377 aircraft across various scheduled airlines have been identified with recurring defects since January last year until February 3.
  • IndiGo had 148 aircraft with repetitive defects out of 405 analyzed, while Air India had 137 out of 166, and Air India Express 54 out of 101.
  • SpiceJet identified 16 planes with repetitive defects from 43 analyzed, and Akasa Air found 14 out of 32 aircraft.
  • DGCA conducted extensive surveillance in 2023, including 3,890 inspections, 56 regulatory audits, and 874 spot checks.
  • The number of sanctioned technical posts at DGCA has been increased from 637 to 1063 to address future manpower shortages.
