Coal India Vows "Just Price" Power Amid West Asia Crisis, Boosts Stockpiles

Coal India Ltd (CIL) aims to provide power at a "just price" despite the West Asia crisis impacting imported coal costs and global shipping lanes.

CIL, contributing 80% of domestic coal production, maintains robust stockpiles to meet anticipated summer demand.
•
Current inventory includes 122 MT at pitheads and 53 MT at domestic coal-based power plants, with 60 MT in-situ ready for extraction.
•
CIL subsidiaries are directed to increase coal dispatches, ensuring preparedness for any unprecedented surge in demand.
•
The company targets 875 MT coal production in 2025-26, having produced 781.1 MT in FY25.
