Congress unveils first list of 42 candidates for Assam Assembly polls

•Congress released its first list of 42 candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
•State party chief Gaurav Gogoi will contest from Jorhat constituency.
•CLP leader Debabrata Saikia is fielded from Nazira, and former PCC president Ripun Bora from Barchalla.
•Other key candidates include Abdus Sobahan Ali Sarkar (Gauripur) and Mira Borthakur Goswami (Dispur).
•The polls for the 126-member Assam Assembly are expected in April; Congress has been out of power since 2016.
