DK Shivakumar Assures Review of Bengaluru Metro Fare Hike, Cites No Consultation

• Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar stated BMRCL did not consult him before revising metro fares.
• He plans to discuss the matter and review the financial structure upon returning to Bengaluru.
• The First Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) recommended an average fare increase of 51.55% after 7.5 years.
• FFC proposed annual fare revisions linked to O&M costs or 5% per annum, whichever is lower, starting February 9, 2026.
• Shivakumar also addressed CM aspirations, stating he would follow party decisions.
