EC extends voter list revision in 6 states/UTs on officers' request

• The Election Commission (EC) extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) timeline in six states and Union Territories (Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, MP, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar, UP).
• The extension was granted following requests from chief electoral officers and due to electors not submitting enumeration forms.
• New enumeration deadlines: Tamil Nadu & Gujarat (Dec 14), MP, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar (Dec 18), Uttar Pradesh (Dec 26).
• Draft electoral rolls will now be published on Dec 19 (TN, GJ), Dec 23 (MP, CG, A&N), and Dec 31 (UP).
