ECI Boosts Poll Preparedness with Inter-State Border Meetings
•ECI held inter-state border meetings to review poll preparedness and strengthen coordination for upcoming General Elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, and bye-elections in six states.
•Chief Secretaries, CEOs, DGPs, and senior officials from five poll-going states and twelve neighbouring states, along with central enforcement agencies, participated.
•Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners S.S. Sandhu and Vivek Joshi reviewed law-and-order, poll readiness, expenditure enforcement, and seizures of illegal items.
•Officials were instructed to focus on inter-state check posts and border districts to ensure violence-free, intimidation-free, and inducement-free elections.
•Agencies like NCB, Income Tax, Central GST, and DRI were directed to intensify operations against illegal cash, liquor, narcotics, and arms based on actionable intelligence.
