GRSE Begins Construction of Two Coastal Research Vessels for GSI
•Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd commenced construction of two coastal research vessels (CRV) for the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
•The ceremonial steel cutting marked the start of construction, attended by GSI Director General Asit Saha and officials from GRSE and Indian Armed Forces.
•Each 64-meter vessel will conduct offshore geological mapping, mineral exploration, ocean environment monitoring, and research within India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
•The CRVs will feature modern, well-equipped scientific laboratories for data processing and sample analysis.
•GRSE is also building an ocean research vessel for NCPOR, an acoustic research ship for NPOL, 12 warships for the Indian Navy, eight vessels for a German company, and 13 hybrid ferries for the West Bengal government.
