GRSE Begins Construction of Two Coastal Research Vessels for GSI

• Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd commenced construction of two coastal research vessels (CRV) for the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
• The ceremonial steel cutting marked the start of construction, attended by GSI Director General Asit Saha and officials from GRSE and Indian Armed Forces.
• Each 64-meter vessel will conduct offshore geological mapping, mineral exploration, ocean environment monitoring, and research within India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
• The CRVs will feature modern, well-equipped scientific laboratories for data processing and sample analysis.
• GRSE is also building an ocean research vessel for NCPOR, an acoustic research ship for NPOL, 12 warships for the Indian Navy, eight vessels for a German company, and 13 hybrid ferries for the West Bengal government.
