India, Chile Advance FTA Talks: Boosting Trade and Critical Mineral Access

•India and Chile discussed progress on their proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.
•Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal met Chile’s Vice-Minister Paula Estevez Weinstein during the WTO ministerial conference.
•The comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) aims to expand beyond the existing preferential trade agreement (PTA).
•CEPA will cover digital services, investment, MSMEs, and critical minerals, crucial for India's electronics, auto, and solar sectors.
•Bilateral trade in 2024-25 saw India's exports to Chile at USD 1.15 billion and imports from Chile at USD 2.60 billion.
