Infant killed, mother injured in Jharkhand elephant attack in Gumla

A five-month-old tribal girl died and her mother, Sushma Oraon, was injured in an elephant attack in Gumla, Jharkhand.
•
The incident occurred Monday night in Patratoli village when a wild elephant pushed down the mud wall of their house.
•
Karan Tudu, officer in-charge of Karanj police station, confirmed the death and injuries.
•
The forest department provided Rs 25,000 as immediate relief; full compensation of Rs 4 lakh will be given after official procedures.
•
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren recently expressed concern over rising man-elephant conflicts and directed officials to prevent such deaths.
