Man Trampled to Death by Elephant in Ranchi's Ratu; Compensation Announced

A man, Subodh Khalkho (30), was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Chitrakota village, Ranchi.
•
The incident occurred under Ratu police station limits, approximately 18 km from Ranchi.
•
One person was also injured and admitted to a hospital; immediate relief of Rs 25,000 given to deceased's family.
•
Jharkhand government provides Rs 4 lakh compensation for elephant-related deaths; injured person received Rs 5,000.
•
A team has been deployed to drive the elephant back to the forest; CM Hemant Soren expressed concern over rising man-elephant conflicts.
