Infra Projects Face Rs 5.42 Lakh Crore Cost Overrun in December

  • Infrastructure projects, each valued above Rs 150 crore, recorded a cumulative cost overrun of Rs 5.42 lakh crore in December 2025.
  • The revised cost for 1,392 projects monitored by the statistics ministry reached Rs 35,10,920 crore, up from an original cost of Rs 29,68,248 crore.
  • The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) reported 1,392 ongoing projects with a revised cost of Rs 35.10 lakh crore on the PAIMANA portal.
  • Approximately 54.1 percent of the revised project cost, or Rs 19.01 lakh crore, has been spent on these projects.
  • The Transport & Logistics sector has the highest number of ongoing projects (896), with revised estimates of Rs 17.70 lakh crore.
