Madurai Manjuvirattu Event Turns Fatal: Two Die in Separate Incidents

Two individuals died during a Manjuvirattu event held at Uranganpatti village near Melur in Madurai district.
•
R Govindasamy (60), a spectator from Sivaganga, was gored by a bull and died from severe injuries.
•
Vairamoorthy (20), a bull owner also from Sivaganga, drowned while attempting to rescue his bull from a waterbody.
•
Manjuvirattu is a traditional bull-taming sport, similar to Jallikattu, where bulls are released into open fields.
•
Keelavalavu police have registered a case and are currently investigating both incidents.
