Wild Tusker Tramples Two to Death in Odisha's Ganjam District

Urmila Rout (53) and Gopinath Pradhan (67) were trampled to death by a wild tusker in Odisha's Ganjam district.
•
The incident occurred while they were working in their vegetable field in Jalameripalli village.
•
The lone tusker, separated from its herd, attacked them, first targeting Urmila Rout and then Gopinath Pradhan.
•
The elephant, tracked by forest staff, returned to Digapahandi range after the incident.
•
Families of the deceased will receive Rs 10 lakh compensation and Rs 30,000 from Red Cross for last rites.
