Meghalaya Cabinet Extends Garo Hills Council Term by 6 Months; New CEM Elected

Meghalaya Cabinet extended the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) term by six months.

The extension is effective from April 18 to October 18, decided on March 16.

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong announced the decision after detailed deliberation.

Albinus R Marak resigned as Chief Executive Member (CEM); Dhormonot CH Sangma was elected as the new CEM.
•
The new Executive Committee will address key issues like Scheduled Tribe matters and election eligibility.
