Meghalaya's West Garo Hills Curfew Extended, 12-Hour Relaxation on Thursday
•Curfew in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district extended for another day, from March 19 (6 am) to March 20 (6 am).
•A 12-hour relaxation from 6 am to 6 pm on Thursday will allow normal activities, including functioning of educational institutions, offices, and banks.
•Prohibitory orders banning public meetings, rallies, and unlawful assemblies are also enforced to prevent further violence.
•The curfew was initially imposed on March 17 following violence and public peace disturbances over a tribal council election notification.
•Two deaths, vandalism, and property damage occurred in Tura due to protests against barring non-tribals from the election process.
